CBD In Your Hair?

We all know that cannabis can be smoked, ingested, and used as a topical, but have you ever thought if cannabis could have benefits for your hair and skin? Well, many years ago, I asked myself the same question. As a natural hair care specialist and herbal enthusiast, I was interested in finding ways to use all of nature’s plants and herbs to benefit the scalp and scalp care routines. As a consumer of cannabis myself, I wanted to find alternative ways to expose my clients to the use of cannabis and open their minds to the potential benefits of marijuana the herb and destigmatize it as just a psychoactive drug. How do I accomplish that?

The Answer: Benefits of CBD

The use of cannabis can be dated as far back as 2000 BCE in Egypt and 2737 BCE in China! The herb is a universal medicine that has healing properties that endocannabinoid receptors in our body connect to directly. As a hair care specialist, I know that the majority of hair issues stem from scalp problems directly related to harsh chemicals and over processing. In addition, the current “herbal” hair care products have been limited to a few popular brands that have heavy fillers, alcohols, parabens, and non-nutritional-based ingredients. The body does not recognize these substances and will “fight back” and it will show in the loss of scalp and hair integrity and inflammation.

CBD has a wide variety of medicinal benefits! As stated above, CBD is a universal medicine and has  a multitude of healing properties. It helps with inflammation and other issues in the body that may stem from inflammation. CBD products can help with maintaining scalp health and reducing hair loss. Hair can become thicker and fuller and CBD hair products are not harmful and do not produce a psychoactive effect. As a stylist I also found that infusing my products with CBD has helped my hand muscle soreness and tension while working with my clients’ hair. I have struggled with hand pain from my job and the CBD has even helped me!

Research and Results:

The benefits of CBD are vast! I conducted a case study with the permission of a test group of my current clients. I infused my own products with FDA-approved Hemp Seed CBD oil. The products that I infused with the CBD oil were hair and body oils, shampoos and conditioners, body butters, and facial toners. As stated before, just by using my CBD infused products on my clients’ hair while styling it, my hands felt less sore and tender. My clients all raved about their hair and scalp thriving with health, balance, and restoration. I also know that this plant can assist in the healing process for internal scalp and skin issues.

Many people suffer in silence with scalp and skin issues, whether they are mild or more severe. Many professionals in the skin care and hair care industry are able to evaluate the conditions and make suggestions for maintenance during routine appointments, but home is where we dedicate ourselves to our self-care routines. Home is where we educate ourselves on alternatives to conventional hair and skin care regimens that may include herbs, nutritional vegetables, fruits and grains and any other healthy lifestyle routine that will heal us from the inside out and produce the results we want. I know that each person can achieve their healthy hair goals and our products will provide exposure to an alternative everyday hair and scalp care maintenance regimen that restores your hair naturally!
